Immigrant Lessons by Judith Edelman-Green
Sunday, July 1, 11 a.m.
Judith graduated from the University of Wisconsin and received a Master’s degree in Judaic studies from Machon Shechter in Jerusalem after making aliyah. She is the founder and past director of Bar/Bat Mitzvah for the Special Child, received the Liebhaber Prize for the Promotion of Religious Tolerance and Cultural Pluralism in Israel and has completed the second year of her rabbinical studies at Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem preparing to create a full-service residential village for adults with special needs.  The following is a synopsis of Judith’s book:

Immigrant Lessons is the story of two women, forty years apart, crossing the sea to shores of their promised land - one fleeing Hitler, the other pursuing her spirituality - and finding gain as well as loss in the transition. With unusual candor and insight, this warm, lively, and at times laugh-out-loud funny book explores in rich color the rewards and challenges of immigration and family relationships. Part memoir, part lyrical prose poem, Judith Edelman-Green's fluid tale of dislocation and change, enrichment, growth, and just plain survival will appeal to anyone who has ever been displaced, by circumstance or by choice.

Tisha B’Av Services and Study Session
Tuesday, July 24, 7 PM.
We will participate in worship as we commemorate the time of destruction of the Jerusalem Temples.  We will also engage in a study discussion on the life and times of the Prophet Jeremiah, who observed in his era the coming destruction of the First Temple.
