Help meet the critical needs of our local and worldwide communities

When you donate to the Jewish Federation of Madison Tzedakah Campaign, your single gift helps support more than 20 essential local agencies and programs, as well as humanitarian programs in Israel and 60 other countries around the world.

Jewish Federation of Madison is part of the Jewish Federations of North America, a worldwide network that serves millions of Jews and non-Jews everyday. During both ordinary and extraordinary times, our strong extensive network of agencies and volunteers is uniquely positioned to assist those facing hardship here and around the world.

How your annual contribution makes a difference locally and globally

Locally, your gift helps support more than 20 essential agencies and programs that serve both the Jewish community and the community-at-large, including Jewish Social Services, UW Hillel, the Hilde L. Mosse Gan HaYeled Preschool, Camp Shalom, Midrasha Hebrew High School, and the Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Jewish Community Campus.

Worldwide, your contribution helps provide rescue, relief, and development programs and services to Jewish communities in Israel and 60 other countries including the former Soviet Union, Latin America, Africa, and Central and Eastern Europe. A portion of your gift is also dedicated to providing humanitarian aid to non-Jewish overseas communities in times of crisis.

Answer our annual appeal

Each year, volunteers from all parts of the Madison Jewish community offer every community member an opportunity to make a contribution to the Tzedakah Campaign. Then in a formal allocations process, volunteers determine how to distribute these funds by evaluating which agencies and programs are most in need.

Tzedakah means righteous giving in Hebrew. Performing the mitzvah of tzedakah is one of the central pillars of Jewish tradition. In Judaism, tzedakah is much more than an act of generosity; it’s an obligation and is part of seeking a just world.
