Community-Wide Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) Commemoration - April 11

April 2010

The entire community is invited to the Yom Hashoah service and program on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 1:15pm* at Beth Israel Center, 1406 Mound Street, Madison.

We will begin with a special Yom Hashoah/Holocaust Remembrance Day service led by many survivors, children of survivors, and others with connections to the Holocaust.

The service will be followed by a performance of “Life in a Jar.”  The Madison community has been waiting over two years to bring this play to our city.  The play was written by a group of Protestant kids from rural Kansas, who discovered a Polish Catholic woman who saved Jewish children during the Holocaust.  Few had heard of Irena Sendlerowa  in 1999, now after 280 presentations of Life in a Jar, a web site with huge usage and world-wide media attention, Irena is known to the world.   Please click here or visit www.irenasendler.org to learn more.

We hope you will join us for this very special program.

*Please note that there will also be a performance of “Life in a Jar” at 11:30 which is open to the public.
