Interim Midrasha Director

The Jewish Federation of Madison is seeking a person who is passionate about Jewish education and committed to building a Jewish teen community for an Interim Midrasha Director for the fall semester of 2022 to cover the maternity leave of the current director.

Midrasha Hebrew High School meets on Wednesdays from 6:15 pm to 9:00 pm and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. It is an opportunity for Jewish students in grades 8-12 to continue their Jewish learning on an advanced level. Our faculty consists of community leaders, UW students, and Jewish professionals.

The interim Midrasha director will supervise and manage the Midrasha Hebrew High School program and staff. This includes the requirement to be onsite during school hours.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Staff and student relationships - spend time getting to know the staff and students. Learn what is important to them and help them to understand the goals of the program and how they can be a part of achieving them.
  • Classroom supervision - observing each class to ensure both faculty and student needs are being met and curriculum is being followed.
  • Teacher supervision and mentoring - advising and helping teachers to problem solve on a variety of topics, from classroom management to technology.
  • Preparation for school and special activities - respond to faculty requests for supplies and materials which may involve ordering. Make copies, secure technology, purchase and set up kosher, nut-free snacks for Hafsakah, maintain basic supplies such as pencils, paper, flash cards, glue, etc.
  • Administration - review attendance to ensure it is being accurately tracked. Track and turn in staff payroll on a monthly basis. Attend Midrasha committee meetings to report progress and share challenges. Meet weekly with the executive director.

The qualified candidate will have strong administrative and organizational skills, have a firm base of Jewish knowledge and at least a basic understanding of Hebrew. Degree in education and/or Jewish studies preferred.

Approximately 10 hours per week during the Midrasha school year and 4 hours during the off-time.

Pay Rate
$25 per hour
