So You Want to Change the World???

AMITIM, (Hebrew for colleagues) is a hands-on movement, sponsored by the Jewish Agency for Israel and dedicated to Tikun Olam, making the world a better place. A select group of American college graduates and post-military Israelis between the ages of 21-27 years old dedicate a year of service primarily in Jewish communities in the Former Soviet Union. AMITIM’S mission is on two levels; one of which is to empower Jewish communities around the world by working to strengthen and support Jewish infrastructures. On another level, AMITIM provides a meaningful way for Jews of North America, Israel, and communities abroad to learn and grow from one another. AMITIM seeks to transform Israel-Diaspora relations and have a lasting impact on the Jewish identities of the participants and on the communities served. AMITIM offers volunteers a remarkable opportunity to reach deep into their personal resources and share of themselves. What participants gain in return is a powerful experience that will forever change the way they look at the world.
