Shaarei Shamayim is a growing, open, pluralistic congregation of over 200 households. We believe that Judaism is a means for bringing justice, holiness, and joy to our world. We are building Jewish community rooted in creativity and authenticity, and we are reimagining the possibilities for Jewish life, identity, and community.

We invite people of varied Jewish backgrounds to join us. We value the participation of singles, families, twenty- and thirty-somethings, and empty-nesters. We are LGBTQ and interfaith inclusive, strive to accommodate people with disabilities, and welcome Jews-by-choice and Jews of color.

For Shabbat, we host a weekly online Friday night gathering, monthly potlucks, weekly Torah study, and bi-weekly services. We hold holiday celebrations throughout the year. Our High Holidays are free and open to the entire Jewish community.

Many of our members are involved in havurot (fellowship groups) which provide additional opportunities to meet people and get involved in the congregation. Our social action committee is active, and we provide meals for members who are ill or when there is a death in the family.

Gesher is our Jewish educational program for children and teens. Sixty children gather on Sunday mornings, and older students attend weekly Hebrew tutoring sessions. We tailor our bnei mitzvah program to individual families. We also have additional children’s programming for Shabbat and holidays, as well as an annual winter retreat.

Rabbi Laurie Zimmerman has served our congregation for over twenty years. She officiates at life cycle events, provides pastoral care, leads services and celebrations, and directs our children’s and bnei mitzvah programs.

We are affiliated with both the Jewish Reconstructionist and Renewal movements.
