The First Heritage Shabbat, is a marvelous opportunity for congregants of all ages to experience the Reform Judaism our parents and grandparents observed. It will be a chance to relive the Swarsensky era, 1940-70, in prayers and music of the times. Rabbi Manfred Swarsensky was our founding rabbi and many people remember his spiritual leadership, intellect and warmth. During the service we will fondly remember that era by using the Union Prayer Book and the Union Hymnal. There will be excerpts from some of Rabbi Swarsensky's most notable sermons and a video including interviews with Rabbi Swarsensky, a very young Hannah Rosenthal and others. Please join us for a memorable journey back into the history of our Temple and our Reform Movement so we can learn together where we started and how much we have changed. Heritage Shabbats are part of Temple Beth El's 75th Anniversary Celebration.
