10:00AM - 11:30AM

Join us for another popular Hebrew class with Parthy Schachter! This class is designed to increase comprehension of Hebrew prayers through an exploration of “roots,” the building blocks of Hebrew words, as they appear in different grammatical forms throughout Jewish texts. Students will be introduced to many of the most common roots and learn to identify them in a variety of different prayers and biblical passages, as well as other vocabulary relevant to core prayers in the Shabbat liturgy. Students must already know how to “sound out the words,” but no other Hebrew knowledge is necessary.

A copy of Kol Haneshamah, the Reconstructionist siddur (prayer book), is required for this class; it can be purchased online. If you don’t wish to purchase a copy, please contact office@shamayim.org to arrange to borrow one from the congregation. Other materials will be provided by the instructor.

Class will meet five Sundays, June 10, 17, 24, and July 1, 8
