Shaarei Shamayim member, Rob Asen, Professor of Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will discuss his new book, Democracy, Deliberation, and Education. This book examines three school boards in Wisconsin across racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic lines and explores the possibilities and pitfalls of local democracy and educational policy. He will additionally share ideas from his next book project, also on education and democracy, which examines speeches by U.S. Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos.
