Participate in the mitzvah of caring for the gravestones in the Jewish sections of Forest Hill Cemetery. Come anytime between 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to wash the graves. Please bring scrub brushes and buckets. We will provide the soap. (Please note: do not bring anything else to wash the gravestones with.) From 9:30-10:45 a.m. Rabbi Laurie Zimmerman will lead a family education program around kavod hamet (honoring our dead), which will be appropriate for children of all ages and will include washing. At 1:00 p.m. Rabbi Sami Barth will lead members in a visit of graves in the cemetery. This program is sponsored by Congregation Shaarei Shamayim, Beth Israel Center, and Jewish Social Services.
