Drawing Closer is Beth Israel Center's year-long series of discussions and learning about Israel and Palestine. Approximately every six weeks for the next 12 months, we’ll come together with the theme and the aim of “Drawing Closer”: to each other, to the land, and to our communities. Pursuing connection, community, and relationships across lines of difference, we’ll weave the strands together. Rabbi Betsy and a group of members will lead our ongoing conversations in which we wrestle with moral questions posed by the situations in Israel and Palestine. Josh Garoon, BIC’s Congregational Learning and Engagement Director, will partner with members to facilitate guided reflections on selected books by Palestinian and Israeli writers, with a focus on fiction and poetry. Sessions will alternate between book discussions and facilitated explorations of the moral questions we hold. The February 22 meeting will be a facilitated conversation of the moral questions we hold regarding Israel and Palestine.
