Chris Brockel is the FEED Kitchens Manager and Healthy Food for All Coordinator. He will speak to us about the Healthy Food for All initiatives: collecting, cleaning, and aggregating local farm produce, and the recovery of prepared food from events and large cafeterias. This talk will include an overview of the food waste issue and where the movement to prevent this from becoming landfill waste is going. It would be hard to ignore the fact that we are in the midst of a pandemic, so he will also discuss food security, local responses, and regional food systems planning in response to lessons learned from the pandemic.

Chris Brockel was the Food and Gardens Division Manager at Community Action Coalition, coordinating food pantries in Dane, Jefferson and Waukesha Counties along with building the Community Garden initiative in Madison and Dane County. After a short stint as the Executive Director at Fair Share CSA Coalition, Chris left to start Healthy Food for All - a food recovery program. That program was soon folded in with services at FEED Kitchens, a food business incubator, where Chris is also the manager of the facility.
