We are honored to have Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes joining us as our speaker for Social Action Shabbat.
The divisions between left and right, majority and minority communities, urban and rural, wealth and poverty, and others obviously influence life in our nation and specifically in the state of Wisconsin. Many have said we need healing from these schisms or else we will face continuing civil strife. As we observe Yom Hashoah V'Hagvurah (Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day) the day before and remember the results of the totalitarianism of World War II Europe, we consider ways to avoid—in our nation—fascistic and totalitarian forms of government and move toward more democracy and unity.
