Two community training opportunities from ADL on Wednesday, January 31.

State of Antisemitism: Presentation for Adults: 5:45 pm - 6:45 pm, In Person & Zoom
A presentation by ADL that will include a brief background about the organization, understanding the build-up to hate through ADL's "Pyramid of Hate," understanding the sharp rise in antisemitism since the October 7 terrorist attack, tips for Jewish individuals to discuss recent antisemitism with colleagues and children, and ways ADL needs your help. Childcare will be provided during this session. To request childcare, register by Monday, January 29.

Words to Action: Training for Teens (8th-12th grade): 7:05 pm - 8:35 pm, In Person Only
An ADL program for Jewish teens. This 90-minute training session will review the definitions of antisemitism and anti-Zionism, how to understand when criticism of Israel turns antisemitic, understanding common Jewish myths and where they came from, responding to key everyday antisemitic scenarios, and talking points to counter Jewish stereotyping in everyday conversation. About the Speaker: Trent Spoolstra
Trent is the Associate Regional Director for the Midwest office of the Anti-Defamation League and is in charge of young leadership development and Jewish community relations. He leads the region’s young leadership class, Glass Leadership Institute, assists with the ADL Associate Board, sets up adolescent training sessions to counter antisemitism, and runs the region’s Signature Synagogue Program. Before coming to ADL, Trent worked in AmeriCorps-VISTA and was a high school history teacher in Texas. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Notre Dame and a master's degree in international affairs from the Bush School of Government & Public Service-Texas A&M.
