Swarsensky Memorial Weekend: Stories from the Fringe: Women Rabbis Revealed Presented by The Braid

Please join us to watch a video version of this compelling live theater piece based on extensive interviews with women rabbis. Recorded from a live performance at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion, NYC, as part of the commemoration of 50 years of women in the rabbinate.

The play is set today and yesterday, in real-time and in memory. All words are culled from transcripts of extensive interviews with 18 Los Angeles women rabbis and are spoken nearly verbatim by professional actors. The rabbis portrayed are divided into three groups: near retirement, mid-career, and recently ordained. Each actress will play the part of several rabbis within each grouping.

The annual Swarsensky Memorial Weekend honors the memory of Rabbi Manfred E. Swarsensky, the rabbi of Temple Beth El, from 1940 to 1976.

Please register at tbemadison.org/swarsensky2022 for any or all of the weekend's events. Please review TBE’s in-person guidelines before attending this event in person: https://www.tbemadison.org/inperson.
