“The Amazing True Story of Israel’s Master Spy, Elie Cohen”

Temple Beth El Arbor Drive doors open at 7:00 pm. Movie begins at 7:15 p.m. Snacks and schmoozing are free. Discussion follows the film.

About the Film (from DVD cover)
Beginning in 1959, the Egyptian born Cohen is recruited by Mossad to infiltrate the Syrian government. His success allows him to rise to the top echelons of Syria’s government, enabling him to pass top secret information, crucial to the 1967 Six Day War, to Israeli intelligence.

Produced in 1987, this melodramatic drama contains all the elements of a spy thriller. The fact that it actually took place in real time lends to our emotional involvement as we are drawn from one inevitable situation to the next.
The DVD includes a Timeline of Israeli history frm1947 to the conclusion of the Elie Cohen saga.

Writers: Marty Ross and Douglas Livingstone
Producer: Harvey Chertok
Genre: Dramatization
Program: 1987 BBC TV & Quartet International
Run time: 96 minutes
Rating: Kesher Israel Committee rates this film PG13.
