Presentation and Discussion follow-up with Professor Nick Balster
Nick Balster is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Department of Soil Science with affiliate faculty status in the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology and the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies.
Dr. Balster’s lab studies and actively publishes on the interactions between plants and soils that control the cycling of energy and materials on Earth. These systems span forest communities to prairies to restorations in both “natural” and urbanized landscapes, including forest nurseries. His most recent work is investigating the intriguing role of wintertime processes on soil structure and its interaction with plants.
