About Yom Ha'Atzmaut
Sixty-nine years ago, during the battles of the civil war in Palestine, David Ben-Gurion declared the establishment of the Jewish state, the day before the end of the British Mandate in Palestine. On the next day, a Saturday, six Arab armies broke into the territory that had been the British Mandate and tried with all their might to prevent the establishment of the Jewish state. During that war, 6373 Jews were killed. For the last 69 years, we have been celebrating the fact that after 2,000 years of exile, the Jewish state survives.
