*Yizkor is a memorial service that marks the death of loved ones. It is recited four times a year in the synagogue (on Yom Kippur day, the end of Sukkot, the end of Passover, and the second day of Shavuot) and provides an opportunity for remembering those whom we have lost. Some people have the custom of only attending Yizkor after a parent has died.
