Step 6: Renewal and Transformation
T’shuvah—return—asks who we will become in the future. While couched mainly in the language of petition and supplication, the prayers of forgiveness ask for the strength to change, to renew and transform ourselves into a better version. In the words of Psalm 51:12: “Create a pure heart for me, O God; renew in me a steadfast spirit.”
