With great sadness, we write to inform you of the death of Sylvia Grunes. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Rachel and Harry Dworetzsky; her husband, Julius Grunes; her sister, Evelyn Lipp; her brother, Victor Dworetzsky; and her son, Mitch Grunes. Sylvia is survived by her son, Howard Grunes (Diane); her daughter, Miriam Grunes (Daniel Einstein); her daughter-in-law, Shari Grunes; and her grandchildren, Noam Grunes, Andrew Grunes (Karen), Tova Angsuwat (Justin), Daniel Grunes (Linsey), Ayelet Grunes (David Dvoskin), Emmaray Einstein, Tevan Einstein, and great-grandchildren, Molly, Mia, Talia, Ethan, Juliette, Ariana, Leo, and Frances. Sylvia passed away on April 4, 2026.

The funeral will be a graveside service on Tuesday, April 7, at Forest Hill Cemetery. We will meet in our cars near the cemetery entrance at 1:30 pm and process to the grave for the service and burial.

Those who wish to participate in the mitzvah of shmira, sitting with the deceased in the hours leading up to burial, may sign up to help at this link. Shmira will begin this evening, Sunday, April 5, at 7:00 pm and continue until close to the funeral.

There is no shiva information to share at this time.
