We are pleased to share that Ellen Weismer will be returning to Camp Shalom this summer as our Camp Director.
Ellen has been part of the Camp Shalom community since 1999, serving over the years as Assistant Director and Director. She also served as the JFM Community Educator and Program Director. Many in our community know Ellen well, and her long history with Camp gives her a deep understanding of the values, traditions, and relationships that make Camp Shalom such a special place.
Ellen holds a BS in Psychology and an MS in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. During the school year, she works as the Education Director at Galin Education, where she supervises tutors and supports students through academic tutoring and test preparation. Her professional background reflects a strong commitment to youth development, learning, and mentorship.
Camp Shalom has also been central to Ellen’s own family story. She met her husband, Ben, at Camp Shalom, and their two children are part of our camp family as well—one returning this summer as a junior counselor, and the other attending NOBO as a camper.
Ellen is excited to return to the Goodman Campus and is looking forward to a summer filled with sunshine, singing, and smiles. We are grateful for her willingness to step into this role, and for the experience, care, and continuity she brings to our community.
Please join us in welcoming Ellen back to Camp Shalom.
